4529 Biles Ct!
After our trip to Louisville, Matt and I hadn't found a place we were ready to call home quite yet, so we continued our search online when we returned to Tempe. Matt found this house, and after seeing about 20 pictures (I'll spare you most of them), as well as its location and price, we decided we'd go for it. All we have left to do now is mail the signed lease and first months' rent check, and it's ours for the next year!
Here are some highlights of the photos we got. I've tried to piece together the layout, so I'll do my best to explain how the house is laid out (at least in my imagination).
This is the front door (left) and a coat closet. You can see stairs in the bottom right corner of this shot. On the left, you can see carpet, which, I think, is the living room.
From here, you can see the living room, front door, front windows (and the porch(!!) through them). I'm not sure what the door in the foreground is, but I sure hope it's a pantry.
This is taken from the living room looking into the kitchen and eat-in area.
The kitchen isn't huge, as you can see, but it should do. We might have to be creative with storage, but it's nice and clean. You can see a teensy bit of the mystery door in the right of this photo. I'm still rooting for a nice, big pantry.
Here's the stove and microwave, as well as a hallway which, I think, connects the kitchen to the family room. Both are in the back of the house. In the hallway, there's a half bath, which you can see in the next picture.
Taken from the family room looking down the hallway into the kitchen. You can see the half bath on the left, and doors that go out onto a porch or patio (I'm not sure which).
As you can see, there's a nice fireplace with a place to hook up the TV above it. There's a better picture that shows the fireplace itself, but I didn't want to deluge you all with photos, so you get the point :)
Okay, back to the front door. You can see the stairs
And more stairs. It looks like there will be 2 landings, and 3 sets of stairs. I have a feeling our heavy, enormous armoire (did I spell that right?) will not be making the trek up those stairs.
This is the upstairs hallway, as you can see. The doors on the left house the washer & dryer. All of the bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms are up here. The rest of the pictures just show empty rooms and closets (and the bathrooms), but none are too exciting. Once you've seen one empty bedroom, you've sort of seen them all.
This house is about 100 square feet (not quite) smaller than ours, but there's an extra bedroom. I'm sure all of the rooms are small, but it's a newer home, and it looks very clean. It will be nice to have the extra bedroom so we can have a guest room in addition to the nursery and Matt's office. There's also an attached garage.
In other news, we just went to our 18-week ultrasound, and there are pictures (as well as pictures from previous ultrasounds--even a video!) posted on my dropbox account. Here's the link for that.
We're still trying to sell our house, but it will happen in good time. I think it's a lesson in patience for me :)
I'm still waiting to hear back from the woman who I need to talk to to accept the job she offered me. She was out at the end of last week for the Kentucky Derby, and, according to the receptionist or office manager, she's swamped and playing catch-up. The position I'll be accepting will be working with people who have sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI), have had a stroke, or who have another neurological problem. Most are people with TBI, though. I'll start June 18th, which will give me about 10 days to settle in, get acclimated to the time change, and to get the house in order. Once I officially accept the job, I'll post a link to the website so you can see for yourself what I'll be doing!
Matt and I are both really excited to make the move to Louisville, and to see our home for the next year. Leah will be flying out to help us make the move (ahh, the joys of having summers off!). Matt and I are taking a vacation (our first since our honeymoon) to celebrate our 5-year anniversary, us both graduating, and our upcoming baby. Matt planned the entire thing, and surprised me with the location--Hawaii! I can hardly believe it. His family shares a couple of time shares, and we took advantage of it once (for our honeymoon), and we think it's time to take advantage of it again. It will make the vacation much more affordable than otherwise. We will leave on May 30th, and we'll get back to Tempe at 11:55pm on June 5. We'll come home and sleep, then wake up to pick Leah up from the airport (around 10 or 10:30am). Then, we'll hit the road for Louisville! Matt will drive the truck and trailer (containing our belongings, which we will have loaded before our vacation), which belong to our friend Pat (who Matt works for). I'll drive Matt's car. We will have hopefully sold my car before then, and we will purchase a new-to-us car. We're thinking about a Mazda CX-7, which is very similar to a Ford Edge. It's a crossover, so it's a little bigger than my car, but still gets pretty good gas mileage.
I think this was quite the post and update! I think you're now as up to date on the goings on in the Miracle household as the Miracles are!
